Stephen Warnock has made it clear that Arsenal goalkeeper, Aaron Ramsdale, is ‘the best in England’ after his performance at Anfield.
The former Premier League left-back thinks that Aaron Ramsdale is England’s number one shot-stopper, even though those gloves are currently in the hands of Everton’s, Jordan Pickford.
For three major tournaments in a row – the 2018 World Cup in Russia, the 2022 Euros on home soil and the 2022 Qatar World Cup, Pickford has been the main guy for Gareth Southgate.

And in truth, he hasn’t let his country down, but the likes of Ramsdale, who signed for Arsenal for £30 million in 2021 (Sky Sports), and Newcastle United’s Nick Pope, are now banging that door down.
The heat on Pickford will only get stronger if Arsenal win the Premier League title and Newcastle secure Champions League football this term – both are very likely.
Either way, after his match-saving performance at the weekend, former Liverpool defender Warnock was left stunned by what he saw from Ramsdale, as he told The Football Show on Sky Sports (10/04/23).
“I think when we look back on previous top teams who have had great goalkeepers, who often win titles, you need big performances at grounds like Anfield, the Etihad and Old Trafford to get you over the line,” said Warnock.
“Those saves were incredible. I know this has been a contentious subject, and I always get a little bit of stick about it, I think he’s the best in England. I think he is England’s number one.
“He is brilliant with his feet. Calm under pressure. He expects to make big saves because he has improved immensely since he has gone to Arsenal.
“This isn’t the only game, where you have looked at Aaron Ramsdale and said ‘he’s outstanding. He has saved Arsenal or he has gained Arsenal three points’. There have been other games down the line.”

RAMSDALE V POPE
There are only two keepers who are going to scrap it out for best keeper in the Premier League when the final ball is kicked in May.
Both can make valid arguments themselves, from Ramsdale’s most-recent performance under the pressure cooker heat of Anfield.
To the fact that Pope has played a huge part in Eddie Howe’s side having the best defence in the league this season, including a clean sheet at the Emirates.
