Alan Shearer stated that he ‘absolutely loves’ Nobby Solano after ¡Qué Golazo! host Luis Miguel Echegaray joked that Newcastle should bring him in as manager.

The former striker shared that Solano was ‘brilliant’ during his time at St James’ Park and someone who was ‘underestimated’ outside of Newcastle.

Solano played for a number of English clubs during his days in the Premier League, with his most notable spell being in the Black and White, but he also enjoyed a fruitful spell in the colours of Aston Villa.

A dead-ball specialist, a player who could spark a bit of magic out of nothing, Newcastle could certainly do with his out-of-your seat talents now.

Nonetheless, this is what Shearer had to say about his former teammate when the host joked that the Peruvian should be drafted in as manager.

“I absolutely love Noby Solano,” said Shearer. “He was brilliant at Newcastle.

“I tell you what, not from me, but he was underestimated by a lot of players outside of Newcastle because I appreciated how good he was. The crosses that he put in.

“Not only was Nobby brilliant on the pitch for Newcastle. He was brilliant off it, because we had some great times with Noby and his trumpet playing in the bars and the restaurants.

“Wherever Nobby went, his trumpet came with him.”

It has been over a week since Newcastle sacked Steve Bruce and the club aren’t any closer to bringing in a replacement.

Graeme Jones is still in temporary charge and it’s a small matter of taking on the European champions on home soil on Saturday.

Chelsea put seven past Norwich last time out in the Premier League and they will smell blood once more if the Magpies show any signs of nerves early on.

This is where Jones can buy the Newcastle owners some time. because if they can win at the weekend, then there won’t be this panic to bring in a fresh face.
