The Tottenham Hotspur manager admitted it will be difficult to make any new signings this month.
Tottenham ace Eric Der spoke to reporters about the current injury crisis at the club, and insisted that he backs Mauricio Pochettino 100 per cent if he doesn’t make any new signings the month, as quoted by the London Evening Standard.
The Argentine has previously stated that it is very unlikely that he will bring any new players into Spurs this month, as quoted by Sky Sports:
“It will be difficult. I don’t believe we are going to do anything.”
Tottenham currently have key players Harry Kane, Moussa Sissoko and Dele Alli out injured, whilst Heung-Min Son is away on international duty with South Korea.
Pochettino’s men are well in with a chance of winning a major trophy this season, and they are still actively involved in all four competitions that they were eligible for at the start of the season.
Failing to strengthen this month could prove to be a big mistake, however.
Dier, though, told the London Evening Standard how he fully supports whatever decision the Tottenham boss makes:
“If that is what the manager said then I agree with him 100 per cent. He is the boss and I am sure we can find solutions within the squad. We have injuries but every team has injuries and we have to deal with it. We are upset that Harry is injured, but we have to get on with it. It is down to the team and the squad to rally and carry on.”
Tottenham face a vitally important few games ahead of them, with Chelsea away in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final on Thursday, followed by a trip to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup.
They then face three very winnable home games on the bounce in the Premier League against Watford, Newcastle United and Leicester City, but whether they will be able to take maximum points with such a depleted squad remains to be seen.
