Everton suffered another defeat on Sunday to Southampton in the Premier League.
Former Everton midfielder Don Hutchison has urged Everton fans on Twitter to ease the criticism on Everton chairman Bill Kenwright, as the Toffees continue to struggle towards the bottom of the Premier League.
Interim manager David Unsworth suffered his fifth defeat in seven games while in temporary charge of the Toffees, being pushed aside by Southampton on the south coast.
Midfielders Dusan Tadic and Steven Davis found the back of the net, while powerful striker Charlie Austin scored a brace during the comfortable 4-1 win for Southampton, which has now seen Unsworth lose to Chelsea, Leicester, Lyon, Atalanta and Sunday’s opponents.
Kenwright, 72, has come under huge criticism as Everton chairman as the club sit perilously close to the relegation zone, but Unsworth has called on Toffees fans to rally around the senior man.
Instead, former Liverpool and Scotland ace Hutchison urged Everton’s owner Farhad Moshiri and the Toffees board to “get a manager in as soon as possible”, as the Merseyside outfit sit just two points above the drop zone in 16th place.
Supporters’ frustration stems from the club’s decision to spend huge amounts of money in the summer on the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson, Michael Keane and Jordan Pickford, but are yet to see a return.
However, the club have taken more than a month to replace David Unsworth and that has been another cause of criticism directed at Kenwright and others.
Fans will be hoping the search for a new manager finally ends this week, but in the mean time the Toffees must prepare for a huge clash against fellow strugglers West Ham and former manager David Moyes on Wednesday night.
