Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough reportedly want Ipswich Town’s Martyn Waghorn.

Martyn Waghorn of Rangerss controls the ball during the William Hill Scottish Cup semi-final match between Celtic and Rangers at Hampden Park on April 23, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Martyn Waghorn was a success during his time at Rangers, and the former Sunderland striker has done better at Ipswich Town.

Waghorn scored 44 goals in all competitions in his two years at Rangers, as reported by The Ipswich Star, and the 28-year-old scored 16 goals and provided 11 assists in 39 Championship starts for Ipswich last season following move from the Gers in the summer of 2017 a transfer fee reported by The East Anglian Daily Times to be worth £250,000.

There is no surprise that Championship playoff challengers Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough are reported to be interested in the former Leicester City striker.

According to The East Anglian Daily Times, Middlesbrough and Forest are looking at the former England Under-21 international striker.

Ipswich manager Paul Hurst has revealed that there is interest in the striker, but he has made it clear that it will take a lot of money for the Tractor Boys to sell him – although he seems to be willing to sell him.

Hurst told The East Anglian Daily Times when asked if there had been any bids for Waghorn: “No, but there’s interest there. It’s only natural when you have a player who had the season he did and with those stats alone, irrespective of how he plays.

“Naturally there would be (interest) but he is another one (along with Bartosz Bialkwski) I want at the football club.

“I’m not going to say right now that ‘he’s not going anywhere’ but it will take a helluva lot of money and I don’t know if anyone is going to be willing to do that.”

Martyn Waghorn of Rangers reacts during the Scottish Premier League match between Rangers and Inverness Caledonian Thistle at Ibrox Stadium on December 24, 2016 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Good signing for Nottingham Forest or Middlesbrough?

Forest recently signed Lewis Grabban, and manager Aitor Karanka may not need another striker, but Waghorn would be a smart addition for the Reds.

There is always room in the squad for good players for any club aiming to win promotion or win major honours, and maybe Karanka should look into the possibility of signing the Ipswich striker.

Middlesbrough also have some good strikers, but given what Waghorn did for Town last season, manager Tony Pulis should be serious about the former Rangers striker.

Shrewsbury Town manager Paul Hurst looks on during the Sky Bet League One match between Northampton Town and Shrewsbury Town at Sixfields on March 20, 2018 in Northampton, England.
