Aston Villa have received praise from their former defender Curtis Davies.
Hull City defender Curtis Davies has taken to Twitter to praise former club Aston Villa for appointing Steve Bruce as their new manager on Wednesday.
Villa sacked Roberto Di Matteo last week after just one league win in 11 games, leaving the club sat in 19th place in the Championship table – only two points off the relegation zone.
Hull City’s Curtis Davies celebrates
Ahead of this weekend’s local derby against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Villa have named their new boss, as Steve Bruce has been brought in as their new boss.
The 55-year-old, who has four promotions to the Premier League on his CV, will be looking to make it five with Villa, though achieving that this season would be something special considering the mess Villa find themselves in.
Former Hull City manager Steve Bruce
A veteran boss with experience in the Championship and the Premier League, Bruce looks to be ideal for Villa – despite his history of playing for and managing their fierce rivals Birmingham City.
Bruce remains popular at former club Hull City despite leaving the club over the summer, and one of his former players has hailed Villa’s move to appoint him.

Defender Curtis Davies, who made 66 appearances for Villa earlier in his career, is well placed to talk about Bruce’s move having been signed by him back in 2013.
Davies took to Twitter on Wednesday evening to state that Villa have made a ‘great appointment’, suggesting that there is nobody better for the job at Villa Park.
