Hull youngster Jarrod Bowen has told the Daily Mail that he would deem Tottenham’s Ben Davies to be his toughest opponent to date from when the Tigers faced Spurs last season.

Bowen is one of the most exciting prospects in the Championship currently, having scored seven times in the opening 12 league games for Leonid Slutsky’s men.

Games involving Hull have seen more goals than those involving any other Championship team this season, so perhaps unsurprisingly, it was a clash against Tottenham that involved eight goals – with Mauricio Pochettino’s men winning 7-1 – that led to Bowen having such a high opinion of the Welshman.

“Ben Davies when we played Tottenham,” he told the Daily Mail when asked who his toughest opponent was.

“He is experienced and it was tough, but still a very enjoyable experience for me.”

The game – from May earlier this year – saw Davies bag his first Premier League goal for Tottenham, and he has undoubtedly kicked on at the start of this season.

The 24-year-old has been exceptional for Spurs, scoring twice and contributing two assists in the top flight, and leaving many Tottenham supporters happy to see Danny Rose remain on the sidelines once he is fully fit and available to Pochettino.

And so, based on his form at the start of this season, it seems highly likely that Bowen will not be the only player who picks out Davies as one of the toughest opponents he has come up against.
