Kamil Grosicki and Jarrod Bowen are men in demand with Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest reportedly keen on the Hull City pair.

Jarrod Bowen of Hull City applauds the fans after the Sky Bet Championship match between West Bromwich Albion and Hull City at The Hawthorns, West Bromwich on Friday 19th April 2019.

Grant McCann is under no illusions about the task facing him as he looks to keep both Jarrod Bowen and Kamil Grosicki at Hull City.

Nottingham Forest have been linked with the latter, The Sun (26 May, page 69) claiming that they were offering £2.5 million for a Poland international who would add speed and goals to Sabri Lamouchi’s squad.

The coveted Jarrod Bowen, meanwhile, is apparently on Newcastle United’s radar (The Chronicle). Magpies boss Steve Bruce brought the diminutive forward to Humberside from Hereford Town five years ago and his outstanding 22-goal tally in 2018/19 hasn’t passed his former coach by.

And McCann knows that it might take a minor miracle to keep both players at the KCOM Stadium between now and the end of the transfer window.

“I’d love them to be here,” he told the Hull Daily Mail. “But I’m a realist and I understand that it’s hard to keep players like that.

“I’m sure there’s interest. There’s not any bids that I know of but I know there’s interest in them. All I can do is work with them at the minute and see what happens.”

Should Grosicki and Bowen stay, there is no reason why a Hull side who looked like the best team in the Championship for a few weeks around the Christmas period cannot push for a place in the Championship play-offs next time around.

But that is easier said than done. Keeping just one of The Tigers’ much-vaunted attacking partnership will be seen as a success.
