Hull City have a bare bones squad due to injuries and inactivity in the transfer market.

Hull City’s First Team Coach Stephen Clemence has told the Hull Daily Mail that the Tigers are hoping to bring in new recruits before this weekend’s clash with Manchester United.

Hull have been struggling for players since the start of the season due to combination of injuries, a takeover and more recently the lack of a permanent man in charge.

Steve Bruce left the club after four years in charge as Hull failed to make any investments in the transfer market, leaving caretaker Mike Phelan to try and salvage their pre-season.

And remarkably, the Tigers have won both of their Premier League games so far this season despite having only 13 senior players available,

But first team coach Stephen Clemence has said that he hopes their current player shortage will not persist, with new arrivals hopefully in the offing.

“We’re working hard still. People are constantly on the phone trying to do stuff. I know there’s been some bids that are active this week but I don’t know if those have moved further.

“We’re hoping we can get some signings in before the weekend. These lads have done great but they can’t keep doing it. They’ll break eventually because that’s just Premier League football. Hopefully they’ll get a hand soon.”

The Tigers will also be hoping to hold on to Uruguayan striker Abel Hernandez, who is omission from the Hull matchday squad to face Exeter caused a stir amid links to Aston Villa.

Hernandez was the club’s top scorer last season with 24 goals, and he opened his account for the new campaign against Swansea last weekend.

He had thought he’d scored the first goal of the new Premier League season against Leicester with what was dubbed as a ‘dual bicycle kick’ with teammate Adama Diomande, but the goal was belatedly awarded to the Norwegian.
