Michael Dawson fears old club Tottenham Hotspur will struggle to catch Chelsea in the race for this season’s Premier League crown.
But the Hull City defender believes Spurs will be doing everything they can to catch the Blues between now and the end of the season.
When asked about Mauricio Pochettino’s side’s chances, Dawson told Talksport: “Obviously, they’re seven points behind Chelsea, I think the weekend and them losing to Palace, I’m sure it gave all the Spurs fans and everyone at the club belief.
“I think just the way Chelsea have been all year, the way they bounced back last night with a 2-1 win it’s a sign of champions. They’ve been top of the league since early on in the season, it’s going to be a big ask for Tottenham to catch them.
“But I know those boys down there, they’ll certainly have belief and they’ll certainly be doing everything they can to catch them.”
Despite leaving White Hart Lane after nine years of service in 2014, Dawson could yet influence the destination of this season’s Premier League trophy, with Tottenham visiting the KCOM Stadium on the campaign’s final day.

When asked how he would feel about denying Spurs their first league title in 56 years, the Yorkshireman replied: “Hey, staying up is our main aim.
“I had great years at Spurs and I’d love to see them win the league but my goal is to help Hull City stay in this Premier League and if we can be safe before we play Spurs on the last day and them win the league that’d be great.”
Hull’s win over fellow strugglers Middlesbrough on Wednesday helped Marco Silva’s side climb out of the bottom three to 17th position, with a two-point cushion over Swansea City below them.
The Welsh side had been on course for an unlikely win against Spurs until a trio of late goals swung the fixture in the Londoners’ favour.
