Hull City’s Liam Ridgewell has settled in at the KCOM Stadium.
Hull City defender Liam Ridgewell has told reporters how he is keen on extending his contract at the club despite only moving to the KCOM Stadium in the January transfer window, Hull Daily Mail report.
“If they want to give me a longer contract then I’ll take it. I want to play for as long as I possibly can. I feel fit, I feel fresh and mentally I feel very good. It was different to when I went out to the MLS,” Ridgewell explained.
“I wasn’t enjoying it as much then but now I feel refreshed and I’m enjoying myself.”
The former West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa defender joined Hull on deadline day with Nigel Adkins’ side short on cover at centre-back following the departure of Tommy Elphick.
Ridgewell had spent the past five years in the MLS at Portland Timbers but now he is looking to wind down back in his native England, originally signing a short-term deal with Hull until the end of the season.
The 34-year-old turns 35 in July therefore he doesn’t exactly represent a long-term option for The Tigers. However, providing he proves his fitness, Adkins may see the benefit of offering him a one-year extension, with Ridgewell starting Hull’s most recent clash against Rotherham United.
Hull’s recent defeat at Derby County and home draw against The Millers has seen the club fall away in the race for the Championship playoffs, leaving them with plenty of decisions to make ahead of the summer.
Several of the club’s leading players are out of contract this summer, including the likes of Fraizer Campbell, Evandro, Markus Henriksen, David Marshall and Ondrej Mazuch.
