Hull City winger Jarrod Bowen has squashed the rumours that he is an Aston Villa fan and revealed that in actual fact it’s his dad who supports the Midlands outfit.

The 22-year-old has been in stunning form in the Championship this season and there is no doubt that he has been one of the most improved players in the second tier.

Bowen scored his first goal for the Tigers on the opening day of last season when his Hull City side recorded a 1-1 draw against their former manager Steve Bruce.

Speaking to Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports News (04/05/2019 at 2:35 pm), Bowen admitted that he has been eager to respond to rumours that he supports the Villa.

“I have seen a few things recently, let’s sign Jarod Bowen, he’s a Villa fan,” Bowen told Soccer Saturday. “I am like, I want to reply, but I’m not a Villa fan. It’s my Dad who is a Villa fan. Let’s just get this straight.

“My first goal was Villa away. On my Mum’s birthday, last year and my Dad was there. I think he sprained his ankle ligaments in the celebrations of the goal. I don’t think he was a Villa fan that day, he was more just buzzing that I scored. Luckily, he was in the away end.”

As mentioned above, Bowen scored his first goal for the Tigers against Villa and he did the same again earlier on this season when his left-footed shot helped Nigel Adkin’s side record a 2-2 draw against the promotion hopefuls.

Over the course of the campaign, Bowen has played 44 games this season, scoring an impressive 20 goals from the flanks and supplying his teammates with four assists [transfermarkt].

Bowen’s season is now over after his team failed to finish in the top six this season. On the other hand, Dean Smith’s side are three games away from potentially making a return to England’s top-flight.
