Both teams look set to see players return to action for tomorrow’s game.
Arsenal will be without Aaron Ramsey again this weekend
Hull City caretaker manager Mike Phelan and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger spoke today regarding issues such as injuries, fitness updates and team selections.
Both managers look set to see players return to first team action, with Arsenal winger Theo Walcott set to make a return as well as Hull City new boy Diemurci Mbokani.
Arsenal will also have the luxury of a fully fit Petr Cech, who is expected to make a return to the Gunners starting XI, despite David Ospina performing admirably in the Champions League against PSG.
Mike Phelan has plenty of options for the first time this season
Burnley away last weekend came soon for on-loan striker Dieumerci Mbokani, but he is fit and available for Hull tomorrow. Norwich’s top scorer last season, despite starting only 15 games, Mbokani could give the Tigers a different option going forward.
“He’s available and he will be part of the group,” Phelan said today, adding “He’s now had just over 10 days I think to understand what this place is about, what the training is like and he’s fitted in very well.”
The caretaker boss went on to describe Mbokani as a quiet character, but one who understands his role at the club, saying that he brought the former Congo international to the KCOM Stadium to be “different”, adding that Hull have lacked an “outstanding target man”.
Dieumerci Mbokani is available for Hull City
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was in a jovial mood, joking that “the M25 will be fined”, rather than the Arsenal players this morning, following heavy traffic.
Wenger went on to confirm that Walcott is back in contention, but that the game will come too soon for both Aaron Ramsey and Gabriel.
“Walcott could be back in the squad. He will be assessed,” Wenger said. “Ramsey is still out. Gabriel is back in training, he might play Tuesday.”
