Abel Hernandez is keen to quit Hull City this summer.
Hull City forward Abel Hernandez has told Tuttomercatoweb he is longing for a return to Italy.
The 27-year-old will be a free agent in the summer and says he has no intention of renewing.
Hernandez is currently out injured after undergoing Achilles surgery, but hopes to be back soon.
He said: “I lived six years in Italy and I was very well. I can still give a lot to the Italian championship. I’m more mature, I have experience.
“We will see in the summer. In the summer I will be free, I will not renew with Hull City. We will see the best solution.”
Hernandez began the season in form, netting a hat-trick against Burton, but played only three games before injury struck.
This dashed his chances of a deadline day transfer away from Hull, and also blocked any hopes the Tigers had of getting a fee for him.
Discussing his fitness, Hernandez says he could be back next month.
He said: “I’m recovering well. I’m in the last phase of recovery, I’ll have to work again for two or three weeks and then I’ll be available to the team.”
The striker has the incentive to perform for Hull upon his return so he can find a good club next season, and earn a place in Uruguay’s World Cup squad.
The writing is on the wall for his future at Hull, but they could do with a motivated Hernandez.
Currently the team is just one place clear of the relegation zone, and avoiding a drop into League One is crucial for their future.
