Hull City next manager odds: Odds-on favourite emerges already after Slutsky’s departure

Hull City have sacked Leonid Slutsky this evening.

Hull City have tonight confirmed that manager Leonid Slutsky has left the club by mutual consent after just a matter of months in the job.

After Marco Silva left the club following relegation from the Premier League, Hull swooped to appoint Slutsky as their new manager in June, landing something of a coup.

Formerly in charge of the Russian national team, Slutsky won three league titles with CSKA Moscow, boasting a win rate of almost 56% win the Russian side – but he has struggled with Hull.

The 46-year-old won just four of his 21 games in charge of the Tigers, and after rescuing a late 2-2 draw at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday afternoon, Hull have decided to part ways with Slutsky.

Fans are split on whether Slutsky deserved to go, or whether there were factors beyond his control which contributed to his struggles, but bookmakers have already started pricing up odds for his replacement.

Sky Bet’s odds show an early odds-on favourite, as former Southampton and Sheffield United boss Nigel Adkins is 1/2 for the job already, and only one manager is even close to him in the running right now.

Ex-Norwich City, Aston Villa, Blackburn Rovers and Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Paul Lambert is in at 7/1 tonight, with the Scot pursuing a return to management having left Wolves at the end of last season.

Other names in the frame are Tony Pulis, Simon Grayson, Phil Brown, Aitor Karanka and Uwe Rosler, with Hull now hoping to make an appointment that can get them away from the relegation zone.
