The Irishman has been fishing on Twitter all day.

Transfer deadline day is upon us and with that comes the speculation and fervour that many love, but others hate.

Others, use it for a laugh.

Take Hull City’s David Meyler for instance – who has been winning transfer deadline day.

Not only did he message apparent Hull target Nani and tell him he was late for training he also posted this message, asking for the postcode to Aston Villa’s training ground at Bodymoor Heath:

Of course his former Hull boss Steve Bruce is now the manager at Villa and the Irish international was a favourite of his during his time as Tigers’ boss.

Meyler is of course not on his way to Aston Villa, who have already signed midfielder Henri Lansbury and Birkir Bjarnason this month.

But Meyler’s approach is certainly a fresh one compared to much of the usual deadline day nonsense.

He even poked fun at Alex Bruce, the son of his former boss. He looks set to join Wigan today, but Meyler insists he was told different:

Needless to say, as much as Meyler is not heading to Villa, Alex Bruce is not on his way to Atletico or Real Madrid this deadline day.

But good on Meyler for having a different approach to deadline day.
