The 31-year-old defender made 18 appearances for the Tigers but has been recalled by their Championship rivals due to their defensive issues.

Some Hull City fans have bemoaned Aston Villa’s decision to recall Tommy Elphick from his loan at the KCOM Stadium.
The defender joined the Tigers on deadline day at the end of August and featured in 18 Championship games in a row for Nigel Adkins’ charges (Transfermarkt), helping the club come off the foot of the table.
However, Villa are currently in the midst of a defensive crisis, with loanee Axel Tuanzebe adding to Dean Smith’s issues after being ruled out with a toe injury, as written in the Birmingham Mail.
As a result, the decision has been taken for Elphick to return to Villa Park, sadly depriving Hull of a key player for the remainder of the season, although unfortunately par for the course of utilising loanees.
Some Tigers fans took to Twitter after the news broke and voiced their opinion on the matter:
Villa originally signed Elphick from Bournemouth for £3m in 2016, but the 31-year-old only made 31 appearances for the club before then joining Reading on loan in January 2018.
Elphick, who will be eligible to play against QPR on New Year’s Day. is a Football League promotion veteran, having achieved the feat with the Cherries from League One in 2013 and the Championship in 2015.
