Hull City fans have taken to Twitter to express their delight and relief as they booked their place in the quarter-finals of the League Cup with a 2-1 win away at Bristol City.
Goals either side of the break from centre-backs Harry Maguire and Michael Dawson handed the Premier League side a 2-0 lead, and meant that Lee Tomlin’s stoppage-time reply was nothing more than a consolation for the Robins.

The victory has unsurprisingly been met with plenty of relief amongst Tigers supporters. Mike Phelan’s men had been on a torrid run lately, having lost their last four – with a 5-1 defeat to Liverpool and 6-1 loss against Bournemouth coming along the way – and this result will undoubtedly provide them with a boost as they prepare to return to league action this weekend.
As well as celebrating the overall result, Hull supporters were quick to praise moments of quality from both Ryan Mason and Curtis Davies.

Mason provided the assists for both of the goals as his corners asked questions that Bristol City’s defence were unable to answer. Meanwhile, Davies’ sensational block on the line prevented Tammy Abraham from equalising with virtually the last kick of the game.
