Hull City are seemingly short on striker options.
Hull City boss Grant McCann says he has been looking at the free agent market to bolster his striker options after recently deciding to sanction a loan move for Nouha Dicko, the Hull Daily Mail report.
“We’ve looked at two or three free agents and we’re still looking. Hopefully we can sit down, myself and my staff, and think which way is best for us to go, whether we do something now or we wait until January,” Grant explained.
“It was important that Nouha plays some games. He wasn’t happy to wait and get the chance. I’m fine with that. I would never stand in someone’s way if that’s how they want it to be.”
Nouha Dicko wasn’t the only striker to depart Hull this past summer. Will Keane and Fraizer Campbell also left the club, with the former joining Ipswich Town and the latter moving to Huddersfield Town.
Hull have excellent wide players in Jarrod Bowen and Kamil Grosicki, but they lack strength in depth in the centre-forward role with just Tom Eaves and Josh Magennis competing for a start.
One possible name which could be of interest to Hull is former Sheffield Wednesday man Gary Hooper, but the club’s financial position may make it difficult to able to afford his potential wages.
Hull were always likely to be up against it this season following Nigel Adkins’ exit in the summer, and their current position of 20th comes as little surprise despite the quality of Bowen and Grosicki.
The Tigers will see preserving their Championship status as a successful season, but McCann may be taking a risk holding out until January to add extra firepower to his squad.
