Hull City beat Bristol City 2-1 in the EFL Cup, with their next Premier League game against Watford.

Hull City manager Mike Phelan has told the club’s official website that his side can take some momentum into their Premier League match with Watford after their return to winning ways against Bristol City in the EFL Cup.
The Tigers have been in shocking form as of late, with no league wins since they triumphed in their opening two games of the season against Leicester City and Swansea City.
Hull have been on a downward spiral but managed to triumph over Bristol City on Tuesday evening, and Phelan hopes the result can help them at Vicarage Road this weekend.

“It was important that we tried to get a bit of momentum going with a victory,” Phelan told hullcitytigers.com.
“we can now prepare for Saturday’s game at Watford knowing that we can still win football matches.”
A losing mentality had started to creep into Hull, with heavy defeats against Arsenal, Liverpool and Bournemouth making their promising start to the season a distant memory.

However, the EFL Cup provided the perfect distraction for Phelan’s side, who were able to finally get their first win since the previous round of the competition, and the result should give his players confidence ahead of an intriguing clash with Walter Mazzarri’s Watford, who sit in ninth.
Hull’s bad run has seen them slip into the relegation zone, and they will need any momentum they can find to help them get a result against the Hornets.
