Tottenham Hotspur are expected to make a sustained push for the Premier League title this season.
Tottenham stopper Hugo Lloris spoke exclusively to Sky Sports about his side’s chances of winning the Premier League title this season, and insisted that Manchester City and Liverpool are still favourites to win the league.
Spurs have made a fine start to their season – their best ever start to a Premier League campaign, and currently sit in third spot in the table, three points adrift of second placed Liverpool, and a further two behind City.
Mauricio Pochettino has totally transformed Tottenham during his four-and-a-half years in charge of the club, but he is still yet to guide them to a major trophy.
That will surely have to change sooner rather than later, if he is too be judged as a truly great manager.
Lloris explained how this season might be a step too far for his team, however, when speaking to Sky Sports reporters:
“We are building our season step by step. The main target is to keep our place in the top four. We will see where we will be in the second part of the season, if we still have a chance or not. But for me, Liverpool and Man City are both favourites for the title.”
Tottenham face a crucial couple of weeks, with trips to Arsenal and Leicester City to come, as well as a home game against Southampton.
Pochettino’s men must keep on winning, if they are to keep the pressure up on City and Liverpool above them in the table, and a victory at the Emirates on Sunday would be the ideal way for them to kick off their festive fixture schedule.
