Tottenham Hotspur suffered a disappointing defeat in the North London derby, losing 2-0 away at Arsenal.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men suffered their third defeat in five games in all competitions as goals from Shkodran Mustafi and Alexis Sanchez saw the Gunners secure the bragging rights on derby day.

It was a disappointing performance from Tottenham and it is fair to say that they probably did not deserve anything out of the game, or were certainly not the better side at least, but Lloris insisted that there was some positives that can be taken from the performance.
“I’m not disappointed with the spirit of the team because the spirit was great. We showed character and even at 2-0 down we kept playing, kept fighting and kept face. We missed something in the last third and the two goals…that’s football and it can happen. The goals have a big impact in a game of this level,” he told the club’s official website.

Tottenham will surely need all of that spirit in the coming weeks as the defeat will leave many ruling them out of the title race, with Manchester City now 11 points clear of Pochettino’s men, who are now just one point clear of seventh place Burnley.
Like many of their rivals it seems, Spurs face a huge uphill battle trying to make the title race a competitive one, but Pochettino will be urging his players to get back on track over the coming weeks as they have to be ready in the – seemingly unlikely – event that City start dropping a significant amount of points and open the door for their rivals ever so slightly.
