Hugo Lloris has shared how for the ‘first time’ under Antonio Conte Tottenham conceded ‘so many chances’ during their 4-0 win at Aston Villa on Saturday, as he told Sky Sports.

Whilst Heung-Min Son walked away from Villa Park with the match ball, the unsung hero of the evening was the man in between Tottenham’s sticks.

After Spurs opened the scoring with their first effort at goal, they were then under some relentless pressure during the first period with Steven Gerrard’s side having seven shots on target.

Whether it be Jacob Ramsey’s driving run and shot towards the near post or Philippe Coutinho’s wicked free-kick, all of them were kept out by the World Cup winner.

Lloris shared the difficult nature of Tottenham getting through that storm, before becoming more ruthless in the second half.

“I think it’s the first time since Antonio Conte took the team that we conceded so many chances,” said Lloris.

“It was a tough battle, as we expected. I think we started really well the game with this goal and then they started to increase the intensity we couldn’t match. We lost a lot of duels and we conceded a lot of chances.

“After the storm, we took control in the second half and then with the quality we have in front, players like Kulu, Harry and Sonny, they can make the difference at any moment.”

During the crunch stage of the season, such results and performances are a great sign, especially with Spurs looking to secure fourth spot in the Premier League table.

Nine goals in Tottenham’s last two games, yet Harry Kane hasn’t scored just shows what goalscoring strength Conte has at his disposal.

The key thing for the north London club now is to get the job done because Champions League football is in their hands.

Arsenal have made a hash of it even though they were ahead with games in hand, as they have now become part of that chasing pack.

That north London derby next month is going to become one very, very tasty affair, which could decide who will play Champions League football next season.
