Tottenham Hotspur survived somewhat of an onslaught by Borussia Dortmund during the first-half last night.
Tottenham ace Hugo Lloris spoke to reporters after his side’s hard-fought 1-0 win over Borussia Dortmund last night, and shared something that disappointed him about the way in which he and his teammates performed, as quoted by the club’s official website.
Spurs were under the cosh from the very first minute at Signal Iduna Park, and if it wasn’t for a whole host of top drawer saves from Lloris, Mauricio Pochettino’s side would have headed into the break at least one goal down.
Tottenham are now in the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the first time since 2011, and the players, the manager and the fans will now be thinking that anything is possible.
Lloris stopped short of praising his side to the hilt, however, when speaking to reporters after the game last night, highlighting one particular area where he and his teammates could have done better, as quoted by the club’s official website:
“Yeah, of course we are happy with the qualification, but we are a bit disappointed with the first-half. We expected a big big start with a lot of intensity from Dortmund. This was the case, and we lost a little bit the way that we are used to playing football, and we lost a little bit of confidence in the way that we play.”
Tottenham now have to switch their focus back to the Premier League, with a trip to Southampton next up on the agenda, but for now, they can be forgiven for basking in the glory of one of their greatest ever nights in Europe.
