Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur lost against Manchester City on Saturday.
Spurs suffered a heavy 4-1 loss at the hands of City away from home at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday evening.
The Citizens were favourites heading into the match, but not many would have expected Pep Guardiola’s side to sweep aside Mauricio Pochettino’s side the way they did.
City could have won by a much bigger margin had they taken all the chances they created and had they not failed to convert a penalty.
Tottenham goalkeeper Lloris, who has been on the books of the North London club since the summer of 2012 when he joined from Lyon for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £11.8 million, has suggested why his team failed to win against Pep Guardiola’s City.
Lloris told Tottenham’s official website: “Tactically and technically they are a great team – probably the best team in Europe – but we stuck with our principles, played our football with our philosophy and probably had a lack of aggression offensively because we tried to create from the back.
“We took a lot of risks and it’s frustrating but at the same time, it will help us to keep working and improve.”
Tottenham may not be in the Premier League title race anymore, but they can still finish in the top four.
