Bayern Munich thrashed Tottenham 7-2 in Mauricio Pochettino’s own backyard on Tuesday.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side had some good early chances in the first half and opened the scoring through Son Heung-min in the 12th minute. The half ended 2-1 to the visitors and everything went downhill for Spurs from that point as Bayern ran riot at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
Former Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry scored four while Robert Lewandowski netted a brace. Spurs fans were visibly distraught at their side’s performance and skipper Lloris apologised to them for giving up against the defending Bundesliga champions.
“I feel really bad for the fans mainly because we gave up a little bit too easily and the score was even worse,” he said.
“It is a night that affects a lot. Now it’s about character, clearing the mind. The next two games against Red Star will become even more important, we cannot lose any more points.”

Spurs now have just one point in two games in the Champions League and have a shocking -5 goal difference. Spurs face the disappointing possibility of dropping into the Europa League if they fail to pick up their form. Pochettino’s side’s next two games in Europe are against Red Star Belgrade which happens to come on either side of two hugely difficult away games in Merseyside against Everton and Liverpool.
Tottenham must now regroup as they head to Brighton in the Premier League this weekend. Pochettino will certainly be under a lot of pressure going into the game and if his side don’t respond positively on Saturday, fans could well start turning on the Spurs boss.
