The Tottenham Hotspur youngster has a very important season ahead of him.
Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris spoke to the London Evening Standard about his side’s start to the 2019/20 Premier League campaign, and offered high words of praise for his teammate Kyle Walker-Peters, sharing how impressed he has been by the youngster during training.
The 22-year-old has started both games for Spurs so far this season, and he seems to be ahead of Serge Aurier in the right-back pecking order.
With Kieran Trippier having been moved on earlier this summer, this season represents a fantastic chance for Walker-Peters to firmly establish himself as Mauricio Pochettino’s first choice right-back for Tottenham.
And Lloris provided an insight into how impressive the Spurs youngster has been in training over the past few years, when speaking exclusively to the London Evening Standard:
“Kyle is not a novice: for a few years now, he’s been working every day with us. He knows exactly the principles and the demands of the gaffer and now he just needs experience. He has showed his quality in the last few seasons in training. We all know the difficulty of repeating that in games, but we’ve all seen his potential. Now the most difficult for him is ahead.”
Walker-Peters still seems to be rough around the edges, but there is no doubt that he has the talent needed to be a real success at Tottenham.
At 22, however, he must start showing that he is ready to compete with the very best on a consistent basis, if he is to convince Pochettino that he is good enough to be Spurs’ regular right-back.
