Lloris remains one of the first names on Tottenham’s team sheet.
Hugo Lloris has told French outlet Telefoot that he does not plan on retiring at current club Tottenham Hotspur, despite remaining captain of the north London club.
Lloris, 31, remains one of Spurs’ most important players under Mauricio Pochettino since joining the club in the summer of 2012 from French club Lyon.
Since then, Lloris has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the world by conceding just 278 goals in 260 league and cup games – keeping 93 clean sheets.
Despite being club captain of Spurs and on a contract worth £120,000 a week according to the Daily Star, Lloris said that he does not expect to remain with the club despite being 35 when his contract finishes.
“Will Tottenham be your last club?” Lloris was asked, and he replied: “I do not think so.”
Alongside the likes of Jan Vertonghen, Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen, Lloris has been a consistent member of the side since Pochettino was appointed as Tim Sherwood’s replacement.
But if he is to remain at Spurs until the end of his contract, Lloris may opt to leave the club rather than sign a new deal. He remains first choice ahead of Paulo Gazzaniga and Michel Vorm.
