Tottenham Hotspur broke the club’s transfer record to sign Tanguy Ndombele earlier this month, The Evening Standard reported.

Long serving Spurs star Hugo Lloris is excited about the deal.

He has already played with Ndombele for France and knows how talented the £65 million signing is.

Lloris is confident Tottenham’s coaching staff can further improve the midfielder.

He told ESPN: “Tanguy is still a young player, but his potential is massive. I think he has done great things for Lyon over the last two years and has shown his quality, especially in the big games in the Champions League.

“He has won his first cap for the national team and it is clear that he will bring his skills because he is a modern midfielder who can do everything.

“He looks like a box-to-box player, but he is still young with a massive potential and I know that the gaffer and the coaching staff [at Spurs] will improve him and his skills.”

Ndombele is only 22 and is an international who has also played in the Champions League.

He is set to feature at Euro 2020 next summer and his value could soar, making Tottenham’s outlay look shrewd.

Spurs needed a central midfielder to replace Mousa Dembele, who left in January, and the acquisition of Ndombele is an ideal solution.
