Tottenham Hotspur are currently in the midst of a poor run of form.
Tottenham stopper Hugo Lloris spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s bitterly disappointing defeat to West Brom on Saturday, and admitted that he and his teammates need to question themselves, as they once again seem to be falling at the final hurdle, as quoted by the Telegraph.
Spurs currently sit in fourth position in the Premier League table, just two points clear of fifth placed Chelsea, and they need to win both of their final games in order to guarantee their place inside the Champions League spots.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men have taken just four points form their last four Premier League outings, and after having been in such a strong position, there is now genuine concern that they could miss out on the top four.
Lloris addressed the media after his side’s defeat to the Baggies, and admitted that he and his teammates need to question themselves ahead of their final two games of the season, as quoted by the Telegraph:
“We are in a period of the season where – and it is the same for every team – we don’t have the freshness that we had in September, October and November. It is difficult to play in every game with the same intensity. We do need to question ourselves and realise that the next two games are very important for the future of the club and the future of every player in the dressing room.”
The Lilywhites face two home games against Newcastle United and Leicester City respectively to finish off their season, and Pochettino’s men will have to show a lot more than they have done over the past few weeks, if they are to secure the two victories that they need to qualify for the Champions League.
