The Tottenham Hotspur duo were in fine form last night.

Hugo Lloris of Spurs looks on during the Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton at Wembley Stadium on December 26, 2017 in London, England.

Hugo Lloris spoke to reporters after his side’s win over Manchester City last night, and singled out Tottenham duo Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks for praise, as quoted by the club’s official website.

Whilst City had the majority of the ball last night, Spurs were still excellent, and they matched Pep Guardiola’s side in both intensity and aggression.

Two players who really stood out for Tottenham were Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks, with the duo sitting in front of the back-four, providing protection for their defenders.

Heung-Min Son stole the headlines for Spurs, but Lloris was keen to point out the key role that the two holding midfielders played last night, as quoted by the club’s official website:

“The two holding midfielders (Sissoko and Winks) did a big, big job, and that’s important in this type of game.”

Tottenham currently have a real fight on their hands in the race for the top four, whilst their passage through to the semi-final of the Champions League is far from guaranteed.

And if they are to achieve success both domestically and on the continent this season, Winks and Sissoko will have a huge part to play.
