Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has told The Mirror that there is nothing to worry about regarding his contract situation at White Hart Lane.

Spurs are in Champions League action this evening, as they travel to the Stade Louis II to take on Ligue 1 side Monaco, over two months since losing to Leonardo Jardim’s side at Wembley Stadium.

Tottenham need a positive result to keep themselves in the competition, and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has been speaking ahead of the game – but his contract situation seemed to take centre stage over the match itself.

Lloris, 29, has been a key player for Spurs ever since signing from Lyon in August 2012, racking up almost 200 appearances for the club, whilst he’s also Tottenham captain under Mauricio Pochettino.

However, question marks surround Lloris’ long-term future at White Hart Lane, as The Mirror recently reported that the goalkeeper was in a contract stand-off with chairman Daniel Levy, who wouldn’t pay the £100,000-a-week that Lloris wants.

The shot stopper is contracted until 2019, meaning that Spurs to have plenty of time to sort out a new deal, but rival clubs in Europe may be keeping a very close eye on the situation with a view to trying to sign the France international.

Ahead of tonight’s game, Lloris was asked about his contract situation, and told The Mirror that there is nothing for fans to worry about, as he is committed to the club, and simply wants to focus on the game against Monaco.

Lloris added that he has a great relationship with chairman Levy and manager Pochettino, and suggested that ‘we will see what happens’ regarding his contract as he looks to concentrate on the team’s performance this evening.

“There is nothing to worry about. I don’t think this is the right moment to talk about [my contract],” said Lloris. “But I want to repeat my commitment is to the club and there is no rush. I am under contract until 2019 and I enjoy a great relationship with Mauricio Pochettino, Daniel Levy and of course the fans so there is no need for anybody to worry.”

“We will see what will happen but at the moment I am focused only on Monaco and the other important matches coming up because it is a busy time of the year. There are times during a season when as a player you have to think about yourself and there are times when you have to think about the team – and this is one of those times when it is more important to be focused on the team,” he added.
