The Tottenham star is out injured at present, but is clearly delighted with the club’s efforts last season.

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has been discussing the speculation surrounding his future that occurred earlier this year, in comments appearing in the Evening Standard, via L’Equipe.
The Spurs skipper revealed that the club’s achievements in the Premier League last season, where they earned a top four place and Champions League football or the first time since he switched to the Premier League, as well as his belief in manager Mauricio Pochettino, have ensured he is more than happy to remain where he is.
In fact he even said that he turned his phone off this summer to ensure there would be no other clubs bothering him.
“There have been rumours of my departure for many summers,” Lloris is reported as saying by the Standard, before adding. “From the moment we reached our goal, in spring, my mind was made up. I’ve never asked myself the question. I knew I would stay.

“I am in a project which started really with Pochettino. The first two seasons, yes, it didn’t happen as I wished collectively, but the challenges have helped me make my way. They saw that they could count on me.”
The Frenchman is right that his name is one that has been linked with a number of moves since he moved to White Hart Lane in 2012.
Manchester United, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are the regular suitors mentioned as chasing the 29-year-old, but despite Lloris only building on his already impressive reputation since arriving in North London, he has never realistically looked close to leaving the club, especially when looking at how David de Gea’s career at Old Trafford has unfolded.

Of course, what Lloris’ comments also underline, once again, is the good work Pochettino has done in selling his much heralded philosophy to the players, not to mention the team spirit and commitment to the cause the Argentine has helped fashion.
This will be of particularly good use this season as the Lilywhites return to the Champions League after a five year spell away, while the experience of Lloris as an international captain and veteran of elite European football will be equally as important.
“It [the Champions League] is an indescribable competition,” he added. “This is where you have to be, and where you want to be.”
Lloris is out injured for the next few weeks, with Michel Vorm deputising, and supporters will be hoping he is back for the club’s opening Champions League match, scheduled for the middle of September.
