The Spanish goalkeeper arrived on loan from Espanyol on Wednesday.
France’s national soccer team captain Hugo Lloris
Tottenham Hotspur moved to address concerns over their goalkeeping position on deadline day with the signing of Pau Lopez on loan from Espanyol – with a view to a permanent deal at the end of the season.
The goalkeeper left Espanyol after eight years and is clearly eyed as a potential long term option for Spurs going forward.
Tottenham’s Michel Vorm is substituted on for Hugo Lloris as manager Mauricio Pochettino looks on
That means he will be looking up to Spurs’ current number one Hugo Lloris as a mentor, and that is a brilliant mentor to have.
The France and Spurs captain has now been talking to the official Tottenham Hotspur website about the new recruit and made it clear he would be made welcome with open arms:
“I know a bit about him already – he played in La Liga last season for Espanyol and he’s a young keeper with a lot of quality.
“We will try to make him comfortable on the pitch and off the pitch. It’s important to make him feel quite settled within the squad – it’s a new experience for him outside his country and I think it’s good for Michel, for me and for Toni (Jimenez) too. He will train with us and he will help us to continue our improvement.”

Lloris, who is currently out injured, and Vorm will both be terrific role models for the new Spurs player to look up to in terms of being a Premier League goalkeeper.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is a fan, knowing his ability from his time at the Catalan club.
The Argentine will no doubt be hoping that working with the experienced duo can help Lopez become top Premier League option for Tottenham Hotspur.
