Spurs are reportedly expected to move in to the new ground in February.
Hugo Lloris has told Sky Sports that the Tottenham Hotspur players are all very expectant of their new stadium, and reckons it will take Spurs to the “next step”.
The 31-year-old starred in goal as Spurs secured a 1-1 draw with Barcelona on Tuesday night, qualifying for the last 16 of the Champions League as Inter Milan failed to beat PSV Eindhoven.
Now, fans are dreaming of knockout Champions League fixtures at their new home in February, with the club confirming that January 13’s fixture against Manchester United will be played at Wembley.
France captain Lloris has told Sky Sports that the Spurs squad have huge expectations of the new ground, and are desperate to move in to their new home.
“We knew at the beginning of the season we were very excited, we knew we would have a chance to play in the new stadium,” Lloris said.
“We don’t really know when it’s going to happen. There’s a lot of expectation from the players because it’s something fantastic for the club and will bring the club to the next step.”
Spurs were told in November that they would be able to play at Wembley indefinitely, until the new ground is finally deemed playable. That has since been pushed back from September, all the way until February.
More delays are expected, but contractors are expected to give an update before January 7 according to the BBC. That will give Spurs fans more of an idea as to when the new stadium will be available.
