Hugo Lloris is a big fan of the Tottenham Hotspur boss.
Hugo Lloris has told The Evening Standard that he believed in Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino from day one.
Pochettino is rapidly establishing himself as one of the world’s finest young managers after helping Spurs to a 1-1 draw at reigning European champions Real Madrid on Tuesday.
The Argentine has taken Spurs from a team who historically struggled for a top-four finish to a side regularly challenging for Premier League titles and this season is no different.
In addition to that, the 45-year-old has helped blood brilliant homegrown players such as Harry Kane and Harry Winks, while pulling off outstanding deals by plucking Eric Dier and Dele Alli from relative obscurity and helping them emerge as top-class talents.
Lloris, who pulled off a phenomenal save in the Bernabeu this week, was close to leaving North London after a difficult couple of seasons under Andre Villas-Boas, but says the former Southampton manager emitted a sense of assurance which helped him stay.
“From the first moment I believed in Pochettino, and that’s it,” he told The Standard.
“It was my feeling when I met him and I was right at the time. He is a great manager and the Real Madrid game proved it.”
