Tottenham Hotspur take on Monaco in the Champions League later this evening.
Hugo Lloris has told the Daily Mail that it is very clear that Tottenham Hotspur’s problem in the Champions League this season has been playing at Wembley.
Tottenham have been forced to play their European games at the national stadium, while White Hart Lane is renovated.
Spurs have struggled when playing at Wembley, and they have lost to both Monaco and Bayer Leverkusen in front of over 80,000 of their own supporters.
Tottenham are now struggling to qualify for the knockout stages in the Champions League, with a match against Monaco in France next up this evening.
And Lloris said: “The fact is we are struggling at Wembley Stadium.
“The problem is home games, as simple as that. It’s very clear. Away from home we’ve had a few good performances, like a win in Moscow and a good draw at Bayer Leverkusen.”
Tottenham have been well short of their best in both their matches at Wembley so far, but they do still have a chance of qualifying from their group if they can win their final two matches.
Spurs take on Monaco this evening, before facing CSKA Moscow at Wembley in December.
Tottenham are currently in third place in their group, but they are two points behind Leverkusen, and will need maximum points from their final two matches to make it through.
