When is Hugo Ekitike joining Newcastle United?
That’s what supporters of the St James’s Park outfit have been asking themselves since it emerged that the Magpies had agreed a £30 million deal with Reims for the young hitman last week.
However, the France Under-20 international suffered a hamstring injury during an international victory in midweek.
Fabrizio Romano revealed then that an official move to Newcastle could be delayed as a result of the injury.

And Ekitike himself has got some United supporters talking on Twitter after posting quite a random tweet.
Last night at around 6.30 pm, the 19-year-old, who netted 10 goals in Ligue 1 this past season [Transfermarkt], posted a cryptic message on social media, comprised simply of emojis.
It remains to be seen exactly what Ekitike is alluding to.
But two hours after the tweet, the teenage hitman, who has no mention of Reims on his Instagram bio, uploaded an old photo of himself playing for the French outfit.
A transfer to Newcastle isn’t a foregone conclusion, but it does appear as if he’s leaving the Ligue 1 club, in light of his president’s comments this week.
And time will tell whether this odd tweet is in any way connected to a potential transfer to Tyneside.
