Glasgow Rangers chairman Dave King has made some bold comments about Celtic.

Hugh Burns has revealed to The Daily Record what Rangers fans have told him about the club’s current situation.

Rangers have been quite busy in the summer transfer window so far and have made quite a number of signings.

Pedro Caixinha’s side have secured the services of Bruno Alves, Ryan Jack, Fabio Cardoso and Carlos Pena among other players.

There is a sense of optimism around Ibrox at the moment, as Rangers aim to challenge Old Firm rivals Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title next season.

The Gers finished third in the league during the 2016-17 campaign, while Brendan Rodgers’s side clinched the title without losing a single game.

Celtic also won the Scottish League Cup and the Scottish Cup last season, and progressed to the group stage of the Champions League, too.

Former Rangers defender Burns, who is 51 years of age, has revealed what the club’s fans have told him about club chairman Dave King.

Rangers chairman King has recently made some bold comments, claiming that Celtic are not as far ahead of the Gers as they should be (click here to read more) and that the Hoops will not win the Scottish Premiership title 10 years in a row (click here to read more).

“Rangers fans I’ve spoken to are absolutely over the moon a little bit of positivity is coming out of the club again,” Burns told The Daily Record. “Those who support Rangers want to see a proper leader there again, someone to lead the club back.

“It has been quiet from the top for too long at Ibrox. The fire needs to go back into bellies and if King is shouting like that it can only breed positivity.

“Football needs big characters and big people at the top of the clubs. It needs people to be boisterous and to be committed, to be opinionated.”

“Fans need as much positivity from the boardroom as possible and that’s what they’ve been given,” added Burns. “Most supporters of other clubs won’t agree with it or like it but it’s not designed for others. It’s designed for Rangers.”
