Hugh Burns has suggested to The Daily Record that Rangers should not have signed Joe Garner in the summer of 2016.
Scottish Premiership club Rangers recruited Garner from Preston North End in the Championship in England for a transfer fee reported by talkSPORT to be worth £1.5 million.
The 29-year-old striker was expected to be a hit at Ibrox, but the former England Under-19 international has failed to impress.

Former Rangers defender Burns has suggested that the Gers should not have signed Garner in the summer transfer window.
The 51-year-old has asked why Leeds United or Sheffield United were not interested in signing the former Nottingham Forest and Watford striker in the summer of 2016.
“Warburton went on about ‘Frank McParland this and Frank McParland that’,” Burns told The Daily Record.
“We signed a player from Preston for almost £2million. Why weren’t Leeds or Sheffield United or other clubs interested in Joe Garner?”
Garner has been a disappointing at Rangers, but maybe he should be given one more season to prove himself in the Scottish Premiership.
It is not always easy for a player to move to Rangers and start performing instantly, and the striker should be given the benefit for the doubt.
The Gers are third in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 58 points from 34 matches.
