Eddie Howe has raved about Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips on Premier League Productions for his performance against Everton.

The former Bournemouth manager was impressed by the display produced by Phillips at Goodison Park, as Leeds won the Premier League game 1-0.

Brazilian winger Raphinha scored the only goal of the game with a brilliant effort in the second half.

Howe said about Phillips on Premier League Productions: “Hugely influential figure for Leeds. I think he gives them the stability and confidence for all their other players to attack.

“You can see their full-backs are very front-foot, left-back, right-back overlapping, underlapping, but he is always there when they need him to counter any threat on transitions and counter-attacks, but also you saw today how good he is with the ball as well and his ability to switch the ball and hit long passes. I thought he was excellent today.”

How did Kalvin Phillips play against Everton?

Phillips is one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League, and his performance against Everton was very impressive.

The England international protected the ball-line well, covered the space left by the full-backs when they went on the attack, and looked very good on the ball.

According to WhoScored, the 24-year-old midfielder took two shots of which one was on target, and earned one key pass, had a pass accuracy of 94.1%, won one header, took 96 touches, attempted one dribble, and made two tackles and one interception.

So far this season, Phillips has provided one assist in seven Premier League games for Leeds, according to WhoScored.

Leeds are 11th in the Premier League table at the moment with 14 points from 10 matches.
