Arsenal are flying high this season.

The Gunners are at the top of the Premier League table and every single one of their players is having the season of a lifetime.

Well, almost every single one of them.

Indeed, there is one player who is probably feeling quite gutted about how his campaign is panning out – Emile Smith Rowe.

The young midfielder has spent almost the entire campaign sidelined with injury while his teammates have been riding on the crest of a wave.

However, Smith Rowe may be about to get his chance to join in on the action.

Gabriel Jesus’ injury has rocked Arsenal, and according to Graeme Bailey, their plan to replace Jesus involves another Brazilian as the Gunners apparently plan on using Gabriel Martinelli as a number nine during this period.

Of course, using Martinelli as a striker would see a space open up in the Arsenal squad on the left side, and that’s where Smith Rowe comes in.

The England international was shining down that side last season before Martinelli made huge strides and took his place in the side, but now, he could reclaim the throne that he probably feels he never should have lost.

Smith Rowe will have to work incredibly hard to reclaim his spot ahead of Martinelli, but that is far from an impossible task.

Let’s not forget just how good this player is. He was described as a ‘huge talent’ by Mikel Arteta very recently and he even has an England cap to his name.

Smith Rowe’s Arsenal career was in danger of stagnating after his injury issues and Martinelli’s rise, but this opportunity after Jesus’ injury may well give him a new lease of life at the Emirates.
