Rangers midfielder Steven Davis has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to the Ibrox club handing a professional contract to Charlie Lindsay.
As announced on Rangers’ official website, the Gers have secured the services of the 16-year-old a full-time professional contract, subject to international clearance.
The 16-year-old impressed at the prestigious Alkass tournament earlier this year.
The teenager came through the ranks at Glentoran and is a very talented striker who has a lot of potential.
Rangers midfielder Davis is delighted to see his Northern Irish compatriot commit his future to the Ibrox club.
Rangers Sporting Director Ross Wilson and Head of Academy Craig Mulholland have given their thoughts on the youngster as well.
Wilson told Rangers’ official website: “Charlie is one of the most sought after youngsters in the United Kingdom and we are delighted that he sees Rangers as the best place for him to continue in the development of his undoubted talent.”
Mulholland added: “He is quick, aggressive and loves to make runs beyond strikers to break the back line and has great finishing ability.
“Perhaps his biggest quality however is his single minded desire to improve, his obsession to be the best and a focussed maturity rarely found in one so young.”
One for the future
Lindsay has progressed well so far, but one should not forget that he is only 16 years of age.
While the teenager has signed a professional deal with Rangers, he is unlikely to break into the Gers’ first team for a while.
What is important for the 16-year-old is to train hard and do well for the Ibrox club’s youth team for now.
If the Northern Irish youngster does well in the youth set-up, then he will get his chance for the Rangers first team under manager Steven Gerrard.
