White Hart Lane will be the scene of one of the most hotly anticipated games of this year’s competition as two of the pre-tournament favourites go head to head, for the first time on live TV.
Tottenham Hotspur continue their NextGen campaign tonight in a captivating tie with Barcelona. The tie in itself was always going to attract attention, with Spurs amongst the tournament favourites and highly respected for their attacking style of play and Barcelona’s history of producing incredible talents in the likes of Lionel Messi, Xavi and Andres Iniesta amongst many.
Spurs players and coaches alike have already expressed merely their excitement at the fixture with little of no fear or trepidation ahead of a meeting with the boys of La Masia.
Tottenham defeated Wolfsburg 3-2 in their first fixture whilst Barcelona faltered to a 1-1 draw with Anderlecht. Victory for Spurs would see them take an outright lead at the top of their group after Wolfsburg overcame Anderlecht in Brussels to join the Lilywhites on 3 points; Spurs having the Barca game in hand. Barca however will also be hoping to claim top spot in the group with victory.
Adding extra spice to the game is its venue, as the Spurs youngsters will get a chance to play at White Hart Lane, Lawrence Vigouroux spoke of his excitement at the prospect this week the goalkeeper saying:
It’s the kind of thing that dreams are made of – I never would have expected it a few years ago. It’s unbelievable to be given the opportunity to play at White Hart Lane in front of the fans.

It is also going to be the NextGen Series first ever televised game as Eurosport confirmed a contract to cover the ‘youth champions league’ format competition for the next 2 years.
The game starts at 7pm tonight and be sure to tune in to Eurosport to see the game live, or get down to The Lane and see it yourself if you are in the area, tickets are cheap and they are expecting a record attendance for a NextGen Group match.
It should be an exciting day for Tottenham and the NextGen Series as they take further steps to becoming a hot topic and highly respected competition in Europe.
