Some Liverpool fans are now wishing that Dejan Lovren wasn’t sold, after Joe Gomez’s latest injury.
Liverpool have had some disastrous luck with injuries this season, with Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho and now Gomez all sidelined.
It means that the Reds are really down to the bare bones at the back, with Joel Matip their only recognised senior option at centre-back.
Liverpool do have Nathaniel Phillips and Rhys Williams who could step in, but the pair are both vastly inexperienced.
And Reds fans are now suggesting that they are hoping that they placed a buy-back clause in the deal which took Lovren to Zenit St. Petersburg.
Liverpool fans were actually praising Lovren recently, after his performance for Zenit against Club Brugge in the Champions League, as covered by HITC.
The Croatian wasn’t always the most popular figure at Anfield, but his worth as a covering option is now being proven.
And although Liverpool looked to have done some excellent business by raising £11 million for Lovren in the summer (Telegraph), it now looks like letting him go could turn out to be a major mistake.
