Liverpool are reportedly favourites to sign Jude Bellingham next summer.
The Borussia Dortmund sensation is being linked with a number of Premier League outfits, including Manchester and Chelsea.
But according to ESPN, as covered by HITC Sport, Liverpool are leading the race for his signature.
It remains to be seen how much the 19-year-old will cost but it looks certain to be a minimum nine figures.
That’s because the former Birmingham City starlet is improving at a frightening rate, stealing the show in major Champions League outings this season despite his age.
On this form, he is likely to be an automatic starter for England at the World Cup in Qatar.
And Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson, who could be playing alongside him for country and club, says that his form going into the competition is a ‘huge, huge bonus’ for the Three Lions.
He told The Daily Mail about Bellingham: “I am very excited by Jude as a player and as a character and a person, I can’t speak highly enough of him.
“Let him play and let him enjoy his football. He has been doing fantastically well again this season, which is no surprise. That is a huge, huge bonus going into the World Cup to have a player like him in form.”
How Liverpool supporters would love a talent like this in their midfield long term.
At 19, there’s really no telling how phenomenal he’s going to be over the coming years and if the Reds find themselves with a chance to get him, as has been reported, then taking that opportunity is massive.
Problem is, if he has a stellar World Cup, which he is likely to do, then it’ll only make him more expensive.
