Some Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter believe that Robbie Keane might be returning to the club in a coaching capacity.

Spurs boss Jose Mourinho has lost one backroom staff member in Ricardo Formosinho, who will be taking up a role as head coach elsewhere.

And Mourinho, speaking to a Tottenham press conference today, revealed that his new assistant will be somebody with a connection to the North London club.

Keane is out of work after leaving his role as assistant manager for the Republic of Ireland and Middlesbrough, with Mick McCarthy and Jonathan Woodgate leaving those respective jobs.

And some Lilywhites supporters on Twitter believe that the legendary striker, who scored 121 goals for the club across several spells, is set to return as Mourinho’s assistant.

Some fans referenced Troy Parrott’s presence at Tottenham and what a good thing this could be for the 18-year-old marksman.

Parrott – also an Irishman – clearly has a big future in the game, but he obviously still needs work.

And who better to learn from every single day than the Republic of Ireland’s greatest-ever goalscorer?
