Arsenal’s Ben White has been praised for the role he played in helping Mikel Arteta’s side score their last minute equaliser against Crystal Palace by Jamie Carragher, on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football.
Big role
Arsenal managed to battle to a 2-2 draw from their game against Palace, with Alexandre Lacazette blasting the ball home from close range in the final seconds.
But it was White’s role in the goal that Carragher wanted to focus on at full-time.
When Arsenal’s initial free-kick was partially clear, White opted not to rush into the crowded six-yard box.
Instead, the £50 million man (The Sun) chose to try and read where the ball was going to bounce and he got his call spot on.
The defender ultimately had the chance to fire a left-footed volley on goal, due to his ability to read the game.
His shot could then only be parried away, and Lacazette was there to pounce, to ensure that Arsenal’s unbeaten run continued.

And Carragher said: “I think the role of Ben White, I just want to highlight him now, he plays a huge role in this goal.
“The ball comes in and he’s trying to look for this initial knock down, he’s looking to challenge, and he then makes a great decision and drops off.
“It was really good, he’s read where the ball is going to drop.”
Defensive struggles
White’s moment of excellence in the opposition box, while not entirely cover up what was a frustrating evening for the Arsenal new boy.
White didn’t cover himself in glory for either of the goals which Palace scored, as he failed to put enough pressure on their attackers in the build-up.
Arsenal’s draw means that they now sit in 12th place in the Premier League table.
