There has been mixed news regarding Michael Carrick in recent hours. Following stories that he will sign a new two-year contract at Old Trafford, he has been dealt a potential blow with reports that he could miss the next six weeks due to injury.
The Guardian reports that Carrick received an injection yesterday in an attempt to resolve a persistent Achilles injury. But due to the healing process that could mean the England man does not return to first-team action until after Christmas.
At this stage, the exact recovery time is unclear, but a number of media outlets are now reporting that one of United’s stand-out performers so far this season could be missing for a substantial amount of time.
In other news, Turkish website Fanatik reports that Galatasaray are interested in another United winger.
Having previously been linked with a move for Nani, the Turkish giants are now said to be considering a move for Ashley Young.
The former Aston Villa man has had a mixed time since his arrival at United – with sporadic great goals overshadowed by diving controversies and flat performances.
If an offer arrives in January, it will be interesting to see David Moyes’ response.
