Tim Sherwood has lauded the qualities of Darwin Nunez after he helped Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool beat West Ham United 3-1 on Sunday at Anfield.
The former title-winner with Blackburn admitted that he ‘wouldn’t want to play’ against Darwin Nunez and how the Liverpool forward is a ‘huge asset now’, as he told Premier League Productions (24/09/23 at 9:15 pm).
In midweek, the 24-year-old scored and assisted as Jurgen Klopp’s side opened their Europa League account with three points.
Darwin Nunez continued that form in the Premier League yesterday, as Alexis Mac Allister’s pin-point cross found his teammate dead centre of the penalty area and he excellently finished it at the first time of asking.
That’s four goals in all competitions for the previously-criticised forward, added with two assists, as he is really starting to find his feet on Merseyside.
Former Tottenham and Aston Villa boss Sherwood stated that he has always been a fan of the hard-hitting striker, who can help Liverpool push for the Premier League title this season.

Darwin Nunez stars for Liverpool
“He (Nunez) is back to his best,” said Sherwood. “Causing havoc up there for any defenders. I really like Liverpool and I think they are going to challenge for the Premier League title.
“He is a nuisance. I wouldn’t want to play against him. He is a pest. He runs you in-behind. He can take the ball. He is a good size and backs in.
“He isn’t technically very clean, but sometimes, that’s his biggest asset – I think he is a real threat. I think he is a huge asset to Liverpool now.”

Darwin Nunez will shine for Liverpool
This was always a matter of being patient with Nunez and he would deliver the goods. You could see the promise and the rawness in his game last season.
It was just a case of needing to get 12 months of football in England under his belt, before he could explode to be one of the Premier League’s best forwards, and he will get there eventually.
There’s no doubt that this Liverpool side has goals in them throughout and that might just continue pushing them to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title.
